A new, easy way to get landscaping in Austin
It's easy to see why more than 100 people move to Austin, Texas, every day. It's ranked one of the best places to live in the United States year after year thanks to its flourishing job market and vibrant culture.
One major draw? The weather. In the summer it can easily get over 100 degrees, but most seasons are closer to 70, perfect for enjoying the outdoor activities Austin offers. This includes exploring caves at Barton Creek Greenbelt and Inner Space Cavern. If you're looking for something a bit more, well, sea level, spend a day on Lady Bird Lake. This downtown Austin family favorite features a 10-mile hike and bike trail as well as canoe and kayak rentals. Hikers can also explore Mount Bonnell. The steep climb rewards visitors with a spectacular view of Lake Austin. Then, head back to Barton Creek to enjoy Barton Springs. The spring-fed pools are 70 degrees all year round.
By now you're probably getting hungry. Austin is famous for its nightlife and eateries. Try hand-pulled Chinese noodles at Xian Sushi and Noodle, elevated French staples at Hopfields, classic Southern comfort food at Hoover's Cooking, and the ever-popular Franklin Barbecue. Franklin is where President Obama ate when visiting Austin in 2017. Although he was allowed to cut to the front of the notoriously long line, he paid it forward - actually, backward - by buying lunch for those in line behind him.
Austin wouldn't be complete without its rich culture and history. A popular destination is the State Capitol. Opened in 1888 and built of gleaming pink granite, the landmark stands taller than the U.S. Capitol in Washington. Many visitors claim it's the most impressive government building they've ever seen. Then head to the Bullock Texas State History Museum, home to over 500 state artifacts. The museum also has the largest IMAX screen in Texas, which shows special documentary short films. More than 9 million people have visited the museum since it opened in 2001.
One of Austin's unique features is the colony of bats that flock to the Congress Avenue Bridge. More than 1.5 million bats spend the summers here, making it the largest urban bat colony in North America. Each summer, locals and tourists gather to watch the colony of pregnant bats emerge from under the bridge to feast on insects. By the end of the summer, the colony expands to about 3 million and then heads back to Mexico in the fall.
