Better Landscaping in Boston
Boston has been the backdrop for some of the most significant moments in U.S. history. But there's more to this city than the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, and the Battle of Bunker Hill.
Packed into the 49 square miles of Boston proper, more than 692,000 people live and work in industries such as finance, information technology, and scientific research. Boston's greater metro area houses about 8.2 million people, making it the sixth most populous metro region in the country. Students make up a good part of the population since Boston is home to several prestigious colleges and universities. Harvard, America's oldest institution of higher learning, was founded in Boston. Other well-known schools in the area include Boston University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts University, and the Berklee College of Music.
Of course, Boston is best known for its rich and revolutionary history. Founded in 1630 by a group of English Puritan settlers, it's one of the oldest municipalities in the country. It was a hub for political actions such as the Boston Tea Party in 1773 and the Siege of Boston in 1775-1776, which served as the opening phase of the Revolutionary War. After the Revolution, Boston remained one of the world's wealthiest international ports.
The city also developed an impressive literary and art scene, backed by the Boston Brahmins, also known as the Boston Elite. Writers and artists such as Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Philip Leslie Hale developed their creative voices here. The city boasts many of the nation's firsts, including the first public park (Boston Common), the first state school (Boston Latin School), and the first subway system (Tremont Street subway).
It's only natural that, with such a storied past, Boston has several landmarks and museums to keep you busy. Perhaps the most popular of these is the Museum of Fine Arts, which houses one of the world's most comprehensive art collections. Exhibitions range from famous paintings to ancient Asian and Egyptian artifacts.
For the history buff, there are museums such as the John F. Kennedy Presidential Museum and Library, the New England Holocaust Memorial, and the Paul Revere House, where the legendary patriot himself once lived.
After a long day of working or enjoying Boston's many cultural sites, residents can kick back and relax in the city's clubs and lounges. Favorite nighttime spots include The Grand, Royale, which often hosts concerts, and Icon, the perfect place for dancing.
Boston is also an excellent place for foodies. You'll find contemporary seafood restaurants like Asta in Back Bay. Prefer Italian? There's SRV in the South End, and exotic fares like the Middle-Eastern-inspired Sarma in Somerville.
