Great landscaping in Chicago
The Windy City has almost ten million people and things to do. Whether you want deep-dish pizza or a hot dog (hold the ketchup), Chicago is the place to go. Take in a Cubs or White Sox game then head over to Navy Pier for its stained glass exhibit. Lake Michigan has its own appeal, including the almost 19-mile Lakefront Trail. Walk, bike, or take in a live performance at the Theater on the Lake. You can also enjoy the Lakefront Restaurant with your sweetheart. The Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry, Field Museum, and Art Institute of Chicago are all nearby too. Check out Second City where Bill Murray, Stephen Colbert, and Tina Fey performed early on. Catch a glimpse of the entire city at the Skydeck in the Willis Tower (it'll always be the Sears Tower though). Board Chicago's First Lady for an expert architecture tour down the river. If nightlife is more your thing, blues bar Kingston Mines has live music, ribs, and wings every night.
If you think you've seen it all in Chicago, think again. Oz Park is great for Wizard of Oz fans. Secret Agent Supply Co. makes sure you have spy supplies while donating to nonprofit 826Chicago. More obscure artifacts are available at Woolly Mammoth Antiques and Oddities. A well-known secret speakeasy, the Violet Hour, takes you back to the days of Al Capone. For more Prohibition history, visit Graceland Cemetery, the burial place of Allan Pinkerton. Chicago hosted the 1893 World's Fair and now there are walking tours available to see the sites. A famous site from that time period is the old site of H.H. Holmes' "Murder Castle". For your military history fix, catch the U-505, the first intact U-boat captured by the U.S. in WWII.
