Endless Nature Adventures in Tampa Made Possible with Expert Landscaping
If you want fresh seafood, quality museums, and dolphins, Tampa is the Florida city for you. A blend of history and modern attractions, Tampa's nature is its biggest selling point; think alligators in wild bayous and dolphins in Tampa Bay. Tampa has become a travel destination for a multitude of reasons.
Adventure Island Water Park is a great way to cool off during Tampa's hottest months. There's lagoons modeled after Deep South bayous and man-made beaches that mimic the Mexican Gulf. One of the most well known attractions is Busch Gardens, one of America's most iconic theme parks. It opened in 1959 and became the first in the world to have a wildlife exhibit with free roaming animals in a mock-up of their original habitat. The rides are just as iconic, including the 50-plus-mile-per-hour Gwazi and Cobra's Curse.
If you were more fascinated with the wildlife side of things, definitely check out the Florida Aquarium, which features animals and exhibits from the local wetlands. This includes Burmese pythons, alligators, and otters. The aquarium also has a 60 foot coral garden full of tropical fish and shark dives. You've been talking about Carole Baskin nonstop since the Netflix docu-series, now you can visit the infamous Big Cat Rescue, which is home to more than 80 species of big cat from leopards and tigers to bobcats. Come after sunset for a night safari.
Get even closer to nature at the Hillsborough River State Park. With wetlands and bayous galore, you're sure to see a plethora of tropical birds and other wildlife, like alligators. Stroll down the Wetlands Restoration Trail's boardwalks or canoe through the waterways. There's also a center about the Seminole Wars if you want to learn some history along the way. Or take a tour through the waters of Port Tampa Bay, where seeing dolphins is guaranteed.
Want more history? Check out Ybor City. In the 19th century, immigrants came to Tampa to work at a giant cigar factory. When the Great Depression ended the factory's impressive run, Ybor City fought its way back as one of the most vibrant areas in all of Tampa. The cigar mill has been transformed into bars, microbreweries, restaurants, and nightclubs. There are also art galleries throughout the area. No night out in Tampa is complete without a visit to the Tampa Bay Brewing Company, which began its first batch of craft ale in 1995. It's now on of the most successful local microbrews in Tampa, with eight regular labels.
Tampa is a city that's continuously transformed throughout the years, coming back stronger and more lively each time. It can be hard to fully enjoy its abundant wildlife and entertainment when you're stuck mowing your lawn or building a patio all weekend. So leave that to LawnStarter.
