(The County sheriff and City Marshall got into a shootout back in 1915.) The five-story red brick building nearby was once the county jail, built in 1908. It now serves as a museum.
Visitors come from all over the region to camp at the Lockhart State Park. You can swim, golf, and hike here while you enjoy the scenic views and wildlife.
If the City’s history and outdoor activities aren’t enough to keep you busy, the annual events are sure to draw you to the downtown area. The Sip & Stroll every April gives you a chance to drink, eat, and wander. One ticket buys you a total of 10 beer and wine tastings at participating businesses stationed throughout town. The second weekend in June is set aside for the rodeo and music festival. Bring the entire family out to celebrate Lochart’s Chisholm Trail history.
